    In the heart of the Mont Blanc Region, in the Trient Valley on the French-Swiss border, set off on a thrilling alpine adventure aboard the VerticAlp Emosson's unique mountain rail installations.

    A funicular, a panoramic train and a minifunicular take you up to Emosson, at an altitude of 1,965 metres, set in a breathtaking natural landscape facing the Mont Blanc massif.

    At the top, marvel at the turquoise lake, formed by one of Switzerland’s most impressive dams. The site offers a range of activities: glide across a 200-metre-high zip line, join a guided tour of the dam, or simply relax at the panoramic restaurant.

    A starting point for a lot of hikes throug spectacular scenery, Emosson is also a place rich in history, just waiting to be discovered.

  • Tête-Noire

    Peu après le village valaisan de Trient, sur la route de Chamonix, un panneau indique le chemin des Gorges mystérieuses de Tête-Noire. Le sentier, créé en 1884, descend dans la forêt par d’abrupts escaliers en pierre. 120 mètres de passerelles conduisent jusqu’au fond de la gorge. Une fois en bas, le premier secret de la gorge attend les randonneurs: une série de chutes d’eau idylliques, jaillissant d’un plat éperon rocheux. Puis des marches, invisibles au premier regard, mènent au deuxième secret: la grotte aux Nymphes, une véritable cathédrale naturelle, dissimulée sous un amoncellement d’énormes blocs de pierre. Un spectacle naturel d’une beauté grandiose et intense.

    Le retour se fait en partie sur l’ancienne route internationale (chemin pédestre) reliant Martigny et Chamonix. Un chemin un peu plus long permet également d’accéder depuis Finhaut aux Gorges mystérieuses.

  • Emosson

    The Emosson reservoir, situated above the Trient Valley, was brought into service in 1972 to satisfy a high demand for electricity from all over the French-speaking part of Switzerland. Its waters come from the old submerged Barberine dam, erected between 1921 and 1925. It is a popular excursion destination, notably for the dinosaur trail close by. It can be reached by road and by taking the funicular which was used during the construction of the dam.
